Richland-Chambers Reservoir is a roughly 44,750-acre water-supply lake on Richland and Chambers creeks in Navarro and Freestone counties, southeast of Dallas in the Trinity River basin. The dam was completed in the late 1980s and is operated by the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) to supply Tarrant County and partner cities, with recreation developed around the shoreline.
At conservation pool the lake has about 330 miles of shoreline, an average depth near 30 feet, and a maximum depth of about 75 feet. Broad open-water basins, creek arms, timber, and developing residential shoreline create a large North Texas water-supply reservoir with extensive fishing structure.
Richland-Chambers is known for largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, and catfish, with fisheries managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Public parks, marinas, and boat ramps around the lake draw anglers and boaters from the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.
Water levels are managed by TRWD around a conservation pool of 315 feet above mean sea level (NGVD29), with an emergency spillway crest near 324.5 feet. Elevations respond to municipal demand and Trinity basin rainfall. Other Trinity system lakes such as Lake Lewisville and Lake Livingston share the broader basin, so monitoring Richland-Chambers levels is important for boating, fishing, and dock access.
