Oologah Lake

About 180 miles of shoreline frame a large plains reservoir with broad open water, creek arms, points, and defined river-channel structure. Average depth is about 18.7 feet and maximum depth about 72.2 feet, so habitat ranges from extensive shallower flats and cove margins to deeper water near the dam and channel. That combination of large surface area and moderate average depth shapes how the basin fishes and boats under changing pool elevations.

Oologah Lake supports recreational boating, fishing, and shoreline recreation through Corps and local public access facilities. Fisheries and boating regulations are guided by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. Ramps, parks, and recreation areas around the lake provide regional access for anglers and boaters.

Tulsa District manages Oologah between a conservation pool near 638 feet, a flood pool near 661 feet, and an inactive pool near 592 feet. Seasonal inflows, flood-control storage, and water-supply releases move the surface through that operating band. Monitoring lake levels is important for ramp access, fishing success on flats and creek arms, boating safety, and shoreline use as the pool rises into flood storage or declines toward inactive elevations.
