If you used Facebook to sign in to Lake Insights, Facebook acts as an authentication provider through our identity service. Lake Insights uses Facebook Login so you can create or access a Lake Insights account with less friction.

Lake Insights does not use Facebook Login to import your Facebook friends, posts, likes, or social graph. The Facebook permissions we request for authentication are limited to basic profile information such as email and public profile details needed to recognize your account. Lake Insights does not store your Facebook password.

Depending on how you use Lake Insights, an account may be associated with information such as:

• Account identity and profile details (for example, email and display name)
• Authentication linkage used to sign you in
• Home Lake and other saved preferences
• Favorites / saved lakes
• Dock Talk Community posts, replies, reactions, and reports you submit
• Photos you upload to Dock Talk
• Ask Dock Talk history or saved answers tied to your signed-in account
• Communication preferences (for example, alert email settings when those features apply)
• Membership or entitlement records when paid features apply
• Security, moderation, and operational records needed to run the service

Not every account has every category of data. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal information more broadly.

Self-service “delete account” is not available in the product yet. To request deletion of your Lake Insights account and associated personal data:

1. Email support@lakeinsights.com from the email address associated with your Lake Insights account, or use our Contact page and clearly state that you are requesting account deletion.
2. Include enough information for us to identify the account (typically the email used to sign in). Do not send passwords or Facebook credentials.
3. We will confirm the request before proceeding when needed to protect against unauthorized deletion.

You can also open Account management in your signed-in profile settings, which directs you to contact support for account closure.

You can remove Lake Insights from your Facebook connected apps or revoke Facebook authorization in Facebook’s settings. That may stop Facebook from authorizing future sign-ins through Facebook.

Disconnecting Facebook is not the same as deleting your Lake Insights account or data. If you want Lake Insights to delete your account information, follow the deletion request steps above.

After we verify a legitimate deletion request, we process removal of your Lake Insights account access and associated personal profile data from active systems. Depending on what you used, this may include profile information, preferences, favorites, Home Lake settings, and authentication linkage used for sign-in.

Content you published in Dock Talk (posts, replies, photos) may be removed or handled so it is no longer attributable to you, as appropriate for the request and the integrity of community threads. We do not promise that every copy of every record disappears instantly from all backups or operational systems.

Limited records may be retained when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, fraud and security prevention, enforcement of our Terms, or accounting obligations. We do not use retention as a reason to keep everything indefinitely.

We aim to respond to verified deletion requests within a reasonable period. Complex cases (for example, accounts with substantial community content or security review) may take longer. We will communicate if we need more information to complete your request.
