Overview
Bundick Lake is a roughly 1,750-acre shallow reservoir on Bundick Creek in Beauregard Parish in southwest Louisiana, south of DeRidder. The impoundment serves local recreation and related parish water needs under the Beauregard Parish Police Jury, with fisheries oversight from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
The lake averages only about 5 feet deep and reaches near 25 feet in limited deeper holes, with roughly 25 miles of shoreline and a sizable local watershed. Shallow flats, creek channel, and vegetated edges define the fishing and boating character; the limited depth is one reason commercial netting has long been restricted here.
Bundick is known locally for bass and crappie fishing, along with paddling and seasonal waterfowl use. Public and private launches, including facilities associated with Bundick Lake Retreat Center and parish access points, support anglers and campers from the DeRidder area.
Water levels are held near a normal pool around 95 feet above mean sea level. Because the lake is so shallow, even modest drawdowns or drought can affect ramp access and navigation, so monitoring current lake levels is especially important for safe boating and fishing.
