Overview
Caesar Creek Lake is a 2,830-acre reservoir in Warren, Clinton, and Greene counties in southwestern Ohio. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District developed the 1970s project for flood control and recreation in the Little Miami River basin. The project reshaped the local valley landscape—including the inundation of the former village of New Burlington—and now serves as a major regional flood-storage and outdoor recreation resource between Dayton and Cincinnati.
With about 40 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth near 115 feet, Caesar Creek is Ohio's deepest inland lake. Steep, forested banks, submerged tributary valleys, and a deep old channel contrast with the shallower reservoirs common elsewhere in the state. The nearby fossil gorge and wooded public lands give the lake a distinctive geologic and scenic setting for boaters exploring the main basin and upper arms.
Caesar Creek State Park supports boating, camping, hiking, swimming, and fishing for bass, crappie, saugeye, catfish, and other warmwater species. Fisheries and park guidance are available from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Marinas, ramps, camping areas, trails, and swimming beaches make the park a regional draw, and the lake is a useful companion to William H. Harsha Lake farther south in the Little Miami watershed.
Levels are referenced to NGVD29, with a full pool of 849 feet, winter pool near 846 feet, and flood storage to 883 feet. Corps releases and watershed rainfall drive changes in lake elevation, and the seasonal operating plan reserves substantial storage above the conservation pool for major Little Miami basin runoff. Sharp elevation changes can affect deep-water access, beach use, docks, and navigation in the upper arms, so current levels are worth checking before launching.
