Lake Texana is a water-supply reservoir on the Navidad River in the coastal plain of Texas. Built for regional supply storage, the lake covers approximately 9,700 acres. It is managed by the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority primarily for municipal and industrial water supply, with recreation on the pool.
The basin presents open main-lake water, creek arms, points, and shoreline flats characteristic of a coastal-plain supply reservoir. Depth and bottom composition vary from shallower cove and flat habitats to deeper water toward the dam, giving boaters and anglers a range of structure types. Its Navidad River setting and LNRA system role define the reservoir’s regional identity.
Lake Texana supports recreational boating and sport fishing through public ramps, parks, and shoreline access around the lake. LNRA manages Texana for water-supply storage and system operations. Published references include a conservation pool near 44 feet and a dead pool near 14 feet. Inflows, regional demand, and drought or wet-period hydrology move elevations through that storage range.
