Lake Monona is a natural lake in WI. It is managed by Wisconsin DNR.
The basin is characterized by about 3,274 acres of surface area, a maximum depth near 74 feet. Shoreline and bottom character vary from protected coves and flats to deeper water, supporting a mix of open-water and nearshore habitats.
Lake Monona supports recreational boating and fishing. Public access is through area ramps, parks, and shoreline facilities where provided by the operator. Fishing and boating regulations are set by the relevant state wildlife agency.
Lake Monona is not operated to a classic reservoir full-pool curve. Where a gauge exists, water-surface elevation is the reference. Conditions still matter for boating, fishing access, and shoreline use.
