Flood pool

Flood pool is the authorized storage band above normal full pool on many managed reservoirs—space reserved to catch flood inflows before releases or spillway use. It is a project rulebook elevation, not the same as flood stage on a river gauge.

Why it matters on the water

Boaters see “full” in July and wonder why the lake can legally rise several feet higher in a wet spring. That extra band is often flood storage, not bonus recreation space. Comparing today's stage to the wrong target line leads to bad ramp, dock, and hazard calls.

On Lake Insights, compare live stage to full pool, winter pool, and any published flood-pool crest using the same datum labels.
