Overview

Lake Erie is the shallowest and southernmost of the Great Lakes, bordered by Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York, with Ontario on the north shore. Water levels are reported in feet above International Great Lakes Datum 1985 (IGLD 1985) — not as a percentage of a fixed "full pool." Official lake-wide means are coordinated by U.S. and Canadian agencies; levels can differ between cities during wind events.
